Bone Thugs-N-Harmony receive Hollywood Walk of Fame star

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony were honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on July 8 during a ceremony attended by hundreds of fans and prominent industry figures, per vibe.com.

The five-member Cleveland hip-hop pioneers group, who formed in 1991, were celebrated for their influential, rapid-fire melodic rapping style outside the historic Fonda Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.

The event was hosted by Los Angeles radio personality Big Boy, with guest speeches delivered by rappers Fat Joe and Ice-T, alongside Hollywood Chamber of Commerce chief executive Ron Frierson. Speakers praised all five original members–Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Flesh-n-Bone, and Wish Bone–for their unique contribution to the genre.

During his address, Fat Joe noted the exceptionally large turnout on the street, drawing comparisons to the career heights of Michael Jackson. He recalled his early days signed to the same record label as the group, praising their humility and support after they went on to sell a reported 30 million records globally.

Ice-T highlighted the group’s connection to Los Angeles through their late mentor Eazy-E, who signed them to Ruthless Records. He distinguished Bone Thugs-N-Harmony from other mid-1990s hip-hop collectives by noting their unique, unified cadence and ability to blend fast-paced verses with vocal harmonies, which helped establish Cleveland on the national music map.

Both guest speakers emphasised the significance of having all five members present to witness the dedication, noting the high mortality rate within the historical hip-hop community in recent years.

The group members kept their speeches brief, expressing gratitude to their long-term followers. Flesh-n-Bone thanked the fans and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for the recognition, describing the star as an honour shared with their audience.

Following the dedication, the group is scheduled to join the Wu-Tang Clan for a 26-date North American co-headlining stadium tour, titled Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber Tour, which begins on August 27 in New York and concludes on October 4 in Arizona.

Formed in 1991, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony became one of the most successful hip-hop acts of the 1990s. They remain the only group to have worked with deceased rap icons Eazy-E, 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., and Big Pun while they were alive, making their collective survival and continued touring presence rare in the genre’s history.
