American singer and actress Miley Cyrus became emotional as she was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, per hollywoodreporter.com.
Addressing the crowd, the 33-year-old artist described the accolade as an “accumulation of devotion” and paid tribute to her family, including her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, following the pair’s high-profile estrangement in recent years.

Cyrus was joined at the Los Angeles ceremony by her mother, Tish Cyrus, her sister, Brandi Cyrus, and her fiancé, Maxx Morando. Although her father did not attend, Cyrus used her acceptance speech to share a piece of advice he had given her during her childhood.
“My dad used to say that a skyscraper starts with a jackhammer, and it’s not about the force, but it’s about the repetition,” Cyrus said. She added that she commits to continuing the “cycle of creation” and hopes her legacy awakens something joyful and raw in future generations.
The accolade comes nearly a year after the release of her visual album, *Something Beautiful*, which featured a track and music video titled “Walk of Fame”. The song was co-written by Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard, who also performed on the track.
High-profile friends also attended the event to celebrate the former *Hannah Montana* star. Actress Anya Taylor-Joy recalled predicting Cyrus’s massive success early in her career, stating that the musician had consistently challenged and rewritten the rules of the industry. Fashion designer Donatella Versace also spoke, telling fans to walk over Cyrus’s star “with attitude”.
Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus experienced a public falling out following her parents’ divorce in 2022. The rift led to the pair unfollowing each other on social media, and Cyrus omitted her father from her acceptance speech at the 2024 Grammy Awards. However, the singer confirmed last May that they were no longer estranged, noting that she had learned to respect her parents as individuals.
