Nicki Minaj has once again fuelled online discourse with a provocative social media post, just days after her appearance at the United Nations where she publicly thanked President Donald Trump, per complex.com.
The rap icon took to X to boast about her recent trip and acknowledge her newfound political ties, tweeting: “United Nations was a MAGA Flex. Trump on da text. Yall should be afraid of what I’m gon do next.”

Keen-eyed hip-hop fans quickly recognised the post as a clear flip of a lyric from Jay-Z’s 2009 single, “On to the Next One,” where the rap mogul famously rapped, “Obama on the text/Y’all should be afraid of what I’m gon’ do next.” Minaj and Jay-Z have been exchanging public jabs for several months, making the reference particularly pointed.
The triumphant tweet followed her address before world leaders in New York City, where she spoke out against reported violence targeting Christians in Nigeria. During her remarks, Minaj admitted to being nervous before thanking Trump for “prioritising this issue” and “calling for urgent action to defend Christians in Nigeria.”
Minaj described the situation in Nigeria as a humanitarian crisis that “demands urgent action.” She emphasised a message of unity and respect, stating, “We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order to respect each other.” She continued, “Protecting Christians in Nigeria is not about taking sides or dividing people, it’s about uniting humanity.”
Her speech came after she was praised by Ambassador Mike Waltz as a principled artiste willing to speak out against injustice. Minaj had previously expressed gratitude after the Trump administration announced Nigeria would be placed on a watch list due to claimed anti-Christian violence.
However, the Nigerian government has denied the Trump administration’s allegations of specifically anti-Christian violence. Experts suggest that Trump’s claims oversimplify a conflict driven by complex political, ethnic and economic factors, rather than religion alone.
