Lawyers representing rapper Nicki Minaj have asked a judge to dismiss personal claims against the artist in a $275,149 legal dispute brought by production firm 24/7 Productions, arguing that contested hospitality expenses were routine, pre-approved corporate budget items, per allhiphop.com.
In a July 31 court filing, defence attorneys Bruce Bieber and Hanoch Sheps pushed back against accusations that Minaj incurred unearned personal windfalls. Her legal team alleged that 24/7 Productions relied on sensationalised tropes to target Minaj personally rather than her corporate entity, Pink Friday Productions LLC.
The response comes after 24/7 Productions submitted sworn testimony and hotel folios detailing $103,730 in expenses for a seven-night stay at the Langham New York in December 2023. The filings showed a suite billed at $9,500 per night under the check-in alias “Tori Spaulding,” alongside four additional rooms for crew, private kitchen dining, and minibar charges.
The production firm launched the lawsuit in March 2026, alleging it fronted more than $255,000 out of pocket for staffing, audio, lighting, security, and accommodation surrounding Minaj’s *Pink Friday 2* album launch and Jingle Ball performances. The company claimed its invoices remained unpaid for nearly two years.
Minaj’s defence filed a formal answer outlining 15 separate legal defences and a counterclaim asserting that the underlying debts have already been settled in full. Her attorneys maintained that Minaj cannot be held personally responsible for liabilities belonging strictly to her limited liability company.
The legal battle underscores the complex corporate structures and vendor disputes often surrounding high-revenue concert tours, where personal artist branding frequently intersects with corporate liability limitations. A judge is scheduled to hear oral arguments on Minaj’s motion to dismiss on August 3, 2026.
