Sony has set a November 6 global release date for “Ramayana,” a two-part fantasy action-adventure based on the 5,000-year-old Indian epic, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, per deadline.com.
The film is produced by Namit Malhotra through Prime Focus Studios and directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Sony will handle distribution outside India. It will be released internationally in multiple languages, including an English-language version.
According to the official synopsis, the story follows a young prince and princess whose marriage and subsequent exile mark the beginning of a legendary journey of love, duty and destiny.
Music is by Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman. Action choreography is by Terry Notary and Guy Norris, with production design by Ramsey Avery and Ravi Bansal.
The release date was announced September 2.
The Ramayana is one of ancient India’s two major Sanskrit epics and remains a foundational cultural text across South Asia. The film marks one of the most high-profile big-screen adaptations to date, with international distribution aimed at a global audience.
