Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day has overtaken Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens to become the highest-grossing film in United States domestic box office history, accumulating $936.77 million in North America, per movieweb.com.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel surpassed the 2015 record of $936.6 million set by The Force Awakens. Worldwide, the film has grossed over $2.45 billion within seven weeks, ranking third globally.
Cumulative global milestones include record domestic and second-largest international opening weekends. It stands as one of eight films to cross $2 billion worldwide, trailing all-time leaders Avengers: Endgame ($2.8 billion range) and Avatar ($2.9 billion range) by roughly $350 million and $470 million respectively.
Co-starring Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle alongside lead Tom Holland, the feature continues a theatrical run expected to span another six weeks following six consecutive weeks atop domestic charts.
Released on July 29, 2026, the film marks Bernthal’s return to Marvel properties alongside a summer box office run that also featured Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
