Eminem, the notoriously private rapper, is pulling back the curtain on his career and the complex nature of his fandom in the new documentary film, Stans, per nme.com. The film, which premiered on Paramount+ on August 27, explores the artiste’s legacy through the lens of his most devoted followers, a group who adopted their name from his iconic 2000 track, “Stan.”
Directed by Steven Leckart and produced by Eminem, the documentary features interviews with a star-studded cast of collaborators and admirers, including Dr. Dre, Ed Sheeran, and LL Cool J. The film uses a blend of rare archival footage, stylised recreations and intimate interviews to offer a raw and revealing journey through the rapper’s life and the passionate audience that has grown with him.
In a treat for fans, a new soundtrack album, STANS: The Official Soundtrack, has been released. The album includes live performances and a long-sought-after, previously unreleased Eminem track titled “Everybody’s Looking At Me.” Produced by Dr. Dre, the song is a time capsule from the early 2000s, rumoured to have been a shelved cut from The Eminem Show. It opens with a blistering 2002 Funkmaster Flex freestyle, a moment of closure for diehard fans who have speculated about the full version for over two decades. The soundtrack also features hits by Eminem and other artistes, including “Thank You” by Dido, whose “Stan” collaboration remains a cultural touchstone.
