US singer Lizzo has revealed she felt like her life was over after facing intense public backlash and a wave of criticism following a high-profile lawsuit filed by her former backup dancers in 2023, per music-news.com.
Speaking on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast, the 38-year-old artist explained that the sudden shift in public perception left her feeling alienated after years of widespread adoration.
The backlash coincided with the conclusion of her Special Tour in July 2023, prompting her to take a hiatus from the music industry amid ongoing legal proceedings.
Three of her former backup dancers filed a lawsuit in August 2023 against the singer, her production company, and dance captain Shirlene Quigley, alleging sexual, religious, and racial harassment. The legal case remains pending.
Reflecting on the emotional toll, Lizzo described the period as a very low point, noting that she initially struggled to understand the widespread animosity because she felt she had shared her genuine self with the public.
