Amazon MGM Studios has cancelled the critically acclaimed series Spider-Noir just days before the show secured five wins out of eleven nominations at the Creative Arts Emmys on September 6, per cbr.com.
Despite earning a 92 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and strong streaming numbers, high production costs reportedly influenced the decision not to renew the show for a second season.
At the ceremony, the Prime Video series triumphed in categories including outstanding title design, cinematography, sound editing, special visual effects, and stunt coordination.
Starring Nicolas Cage as 1930s private detective and vigilante Ben Reilly alongside Brendan Gleeson, Lamorne Morris, and Jack Huston, the series blended classic noir aesthetics with superhero action. Following the cancellation, lead actor Nicolas Cage expressed contentment with a single-season run, telling Deadline that one season was perfect for telling the story.
