Prime Video has announced a new retrospective documentary tracing the life and career of British singer Lily Allen, set for release in 2027, per nylon.com.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mat Whitecross, the film will chronicle Allen’s rise to fame from her early days as an internet phenomenon through to the release of her 2025 album West End Girl.
The upcoming project promises an intimate look at the pop star’s personal and professional journey, featuring contributions and interviews from those closest to her. According to the streaming platform, the documentary aims to highlight Allen’s role as a pioneering figure in modern music whose candid songwriting helped shape a generation of female artists.
Whitecross brings significant music documentary experience to the feature, having previously directed Oasis: Supersonic in 2016 and the 2018 Coldplay documentary Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams.
An exact premiere date for the documentary has not yet been confirmed by Prime Video, and Allen has not publicly commented on the announcement.
Allen first achieved international prominence in the mid-2000s after gaining a massive fanbase on MySpace, making her one of the earliest musical acts to achieve mainstream success via social media. Her debut album, Alright, Still, was released in 2006 to critical and commercial success.
