Dr Dre embraces artificial intelligence as a creative music production tool

American rapper and record producer Dr Dre has stated that he embraces artificial intelligence in music production, dismissing industry fears and comparing the technology to the advent of drum machines and synthesisers, per justjared.com.

Speaking in a recent interview with The New York Times, the 61-year-old producer stated that he does not view artificial intelligence as a threat to creativity.

He argued that opposition to the technology stems from individuals who struggle with the creation process or are reluctant to learn new methods.

Confirming that he currently incorporates artificial intelligence into his workflow, Dr Dre explained that he employs it experimentally to evaluate its response to his initial musical output. Business partner Jimmy Iovine corroborated these insights, noting that fellow producer Timbaland also utilises the technology and suggesting that many industry professionals quietly rely on artificial intelligence tools without public admission.
