Nelly Furtado has announced a 20th-anniversary edition of her 2006 album Loose, set for release on September 4, per cbc.ca.
The announcement was made via her social media accounts, accompanied by the release of a reimagined version of hit single “Maneater”.
The forthcoming release will include previously unheard material. “It includes some never-before-heard vault tracks, some new interpretations I sing, and some brand new music,” Furtado shared on Instagram. “Also a top-secret demo I’ve been waiting 20 years to release.”
The singer has released “Maneater” (Ritual Version), a piano-led reworking that strips back the original’s prominent synths. Loose became Furtado’s first album to reach No.1 on the Billboard 200. It remains her most commercially successful record, with global sales of 10 million copies and six-times platinum certification in Canada. The album featured the Timbaland-produced singles “Promiscuous,” Maneater,” “Say It Right and All Good Things (Come to an End)”.
Furtado previously released an expanded version of Loose in 2021. Her most recent studio album, 7, arrived in 2024. In March, she was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, with a tribute from Drake and a medley performance by Alessia Cara, Jully Black and others.
Earlier this year, she featured on “No Place Like Home” with Davido and Major Lazer for the official FIFA World Cup album. She also contributed “Electric Circus” with producer boi-1da to Canada Soccer’s What If It All Goes Right? compilation.
Originally released in 2006, Loose marked a significant stylistic shift for the Canadian singer, propelled by producer Timbaland’s influence and yielding multiple global hits. Its anniversary reissue follows a period of renewed recognition for Furtado, including her Hall of Fame induction.
