Kemi Adetiba’s first feature length film, King of Boys, aired on Netflix yesterday and social media was abuzz with praise and, of course, suggestions and movie ideas.
Not to worry, King of Boys is becoming a franchise, according to filmmaker in a casual tweet that got every KOB fan excited. A prequel seems to be in the works. We will be seeing Toni Tones reprise her role as young Eniola years before she became King of Boys.
The limited series prequel, according to Adetiba, has already been commissioned.
This news came only days after she confirmed that she is working on the sequel to King of Boys.
Dope, right?
Remember she got a 10 nomination bundle at the upcoming AMAA awards and is presently ‘King-of-boys-hopping’ around the globe as we speak.
What a way to stamp boss-hood!
Haven’t seen the King of Boys Movie? This might no longer be a problem because Netflix is presently showing it, alongside FilmHouse and Amazon.
With King of Boys, Adetiba created a vivid world of endless possibilities, one that intersects Nigeria’s dirty politics and Lagos’ chaotic underworld. It also pits powerful women against powerful men. Many of the characters, from Makanaki to Odogwu are intriguing enough to deserve standalone films, and we hope to see how this incredible world is explored in the future.
