The Delivery Boy delivers 12 Nominations at AMAA 2019

There is a pivotal point in movie making where you realize that you have stumbled on a goldmine.

The Movie, ‘The Delivery Boy’ is currently at that point.
With a startling 12 AMAA nominations already, The movie is already positioned to break records.

This outstanding news comes barely a week after the producers got a mail from the Nigerian oscars selection committee, saying the film was being considered for representation.

The producer, in a rousing thank you speech revealed the following:
“I was trying to post all the nominations but apparently our nominations exceeded Instagram’s limits.Thank you to AMAA for the recognition.
I feel especially proud of the actors and the TEFT (The Elite Film Team) members who put their all into making this film possible.”

The Delivery Boy’, directed by Adekunle ‘Nodash’ Adejuyigbe
is a movie that explores the backstory of terrorists.
The journey takes a prostitute and an orphan them through the underbelly of the city exposing the hidden back side of the African Society and its dangerous culture of silence in the presence of evil.

AMAA is Africa’s oldest and biggest academy award for films. It is presented annually to recognize excellence among professionals working in, or non-African professionals who have contributed to, the African film industry.

Headies Music Award opens up 2019 Nominations

Leading African music award, The Headies, on Wednesday announced that it has started receiving entries for its 13th edition, themed: ‘The Power of A Dream.’

According to the organizers, only musical works released between January 2018 and June 2019 will be eligible for submission this year, adding that such works also stand a chance to be nominated for the annual award.

The 13th Headies award will feature 29 unique categories in recognition of Africa’s finest artistes.

This includes: Best Recording of the Year;
Best Pop Single;
Producer of The Year;
Best Reggae/Dancehall Single; Best Rap Album;
Best R&B/Pop Album; Alternative Album;
Best R&B Single;
Best Collabo;
Best Rap Single;
Best Vocal Performance (Male); Best Vocal Performance (Female);
Next Rated; Hip Hop World Revelation; and Lyricist on The Roll.

Others are the Best Street-Hop Artiste;

Registration for this year’s entry closes midnight of September 24th, 2019 and the award show itself is scheduled to hold on Friday, October 19th, 2019.

Etinosa Yvonne Wins Access Bank ART X Prize

The 2019 edition of the Access Bank ART X Prize was adjudicated by a jury of 5 renowned artists and industry stakeholders, namely Emeka Ogboh, Wura-Natasha Ogunji, Ibrahim Mahama, Alessio Antoniolli, and Zina Saro-Wiwa.

After a rigorous screening process, five finalists emerged: Ayomitunde Adeleke, Christopher Nelson Obuh, Etinosa Yvonne,
Yadichinma Ukoha-Kalu and Peter Ebahi Okotor, with Etinosa Yvonne emerging as the winner after live presentations to the jury.

Etinosa Yvonne is a self-taught documentary photographer, based in Abuja, originally from Benin City who considers photography to be a medium of expression and a tool to drive social change.
Etinosa leverages on the power of visual storytelling to create awareness, educate and inform people about causes and issues she is passionate about.

Etinosa Yvonne will claim the winnings of a cash grant of N 1,500,000, a three-month residency at Gasworks, London, in 2020, and a solo presentation at ART X Lagos in 2020.

King of Boys’ and
‘Delivery Boy’,‘ lead AMAA 2019 nominations

The movies, ‘The Delivery Boy’ and ‘King of Boys’ snagged the most nominations for the 2019 Africa Movie Academy Awards.

the much-anticipated nomination list, featuring films from across Africa, was announced late Wednesday night with Nigeria scoring the most nominations.

The Adekunle ‘Nodash’ Adejuyigbe-directed film ‘The Delivery Boy’ scored 12 nominations while Kemi Adetiba-directed ‘King of Boys’ got eight nominations.

Actors in ‘The Delivery Boy’, a film that explores the backstory of terrorists, earned nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Jemima Osunde) and Promising Actor (Jammal Ibrahim).

They film also delivered other nominations, including nominations for Best Achievement in Visual Effects, Best Achievement in Sound, Best Achievement in Cinematography, Best Achievement in Editing and Best Achievement in Screenplay.

Other nominations are Best Nigerian Film, Best Achievement in Production Design and Best Film while Adejuyigbe got nominated for Best Director alongside Kemi Adetiba for ‘King of Boys’.

On its part, Adetiba’s 2018 thriller earned Adesua Etomi-Wellington a nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role and musician, Reminisce got Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

The movie was also nominated for Best Film, Best Achievement in Visual Effects and Best Achievement in Costume Design.

NAN reports that the 15th edition of the much-anticipated awards will hold in Lagos on October 26.
