Launched in 1996 as a segment on The Oprah Winfrey Show before growing into a prominent national literary community, the club has featured over 100 titles ranging from contemporary fiction to literary classics.
Throughout September, the official Oprah’s Book Club Instagram account is highlighting a selection of unforgettable past picks each day, including Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye and Viola Davis’s Memoir Finding Me.
To expand access for readers, Winfrey has launched a new Amazon storefront where fans can purchase historical selections and explore the club’s publishing legacy. Additionally, readers can participate in a special Goodreads challenge by completing a qualifying title to unlock a commemorative achievement badge.
The anniversary celebrations will conclude with a special episode of the Oprah’s Book Club podcast on September 29. The episode features past book club authors including Barbara Kingsolver, Ocean Vuong, Elizabeth Strout, Abraham Verghese, and Viola Davis. Additional content is scheduled to be released throughout the month.
