The Rolling Stones have once again etched their name in music history as they achieved a remarkable milestone, reports Far Out magazine. With the release of their latest album, Hackney Diamonds, on October 20th, according to the outlet, the iconic rock band has secured a number one spot on the UK charts. This accomplishment makes them the first band to achieve number one albums in six different decades.
During its debut week, Hackney Diamonds managed to sell an impressive 72,204 units in the United Kingdom. Only Lewis Capaldi and Ed Sheeran managed to surpass this feat in terms of record sales within a seven-day period in 2023.
This marks the 14th time The Rolling Stones have claimed the top spot on the UK charts, trailing just behind The Beatles, who hold the record for the most number one albums. However, what sets The Stones apart is their ability to achieve number one albums in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2010s and now the 2020s.
Commenting on this extraordinary achievement, Stephen Hallowes of Polydor expressed his admiration for the band’s legacy, stating, “The Rolling Stones are the most legendary rock band in the world, and to work on an album of this magnitude is an absolute honour.”
Hackney Diamonds has received acclaim from critics, with Far Out describing it as a successful venture that showcases the band’s enduring creativity. The album’s success is only the beginning of what promises to be a remarkable campaign for The Rolling Stones and their latest musical offering.
