Frieze London & Frieze Masters line up 300 galleries for October fairs

Nearly 300 international exhibitors will participate in the upcoming editions of the Frieze London and Frieze Masters art fairs, scheduled to run in Regent’s Park from October 14 to 18, according to artnews.com.

Frieze London will host 172 galleries, while Frieze Masters will feature 138 exhibitors. Eight galleries, including Hauser & Wirth, Hales, Alison Jacques, Harlesden High Street, and Richard Saltoun Gallery, will maintain booths across both events.

Frieze London’s contemporary line-up includes prominent blue-chip entities such as Gagosian, Pace Gallery, David Zwirner, Thaddaeus Ropac, White Cube, Lisson, and Lehmann Maupin. Local London galleries will also be well-represented across various market tiers, including Sadie Coles HQ, Victoria Miro, Maureen Paley, and Thomas Dane Gallery. In line with previous years, the fair will emphasise discovery by placing younger galleries and emerging artists closer to the entrance. The event will open with two solo booths selected via proposals: Márcia Falcão at Fortes d’Aloia & Gabriel and Agata Ingarden at Berthold Pott.

The contemporary fair will introduce a new curated section, “The Code Universe”, organised by Carol Yinghua Lu, director of the Inside-Out Art Museum in Beijing. The section will examine artistic responses to societal transformations through mass culture and features artists such as Carolyn Lazard, Selma Selman, and Shinro Ohtake. Additionally, the “Artist-to-Artist” initiative returns, featuring presentations by peer-nominated artists selected by industry figures including Gala Porras-Kim, Jeffrey Gibson, and Yinka Shonibare. The “Focus” section will showcase younger galleries founded within the last 12 years.

Frieze Masters, which showcases antiquities, Old Masters, and 20th-century art, will feature galleries such as Ortuzar, Skarstedt, Axel Vervoordt, and Galleria Continua. The fair will expand its academic “Spotlight” section for 20th-century solo presentations, curated by Devika Singh and Sofia Gotti of the Courtauld Institute of Art, marking its largest iteration to date. The “Reflections” section, organised by Abby Bangser, will return to explore architectural dialogues inspired by Casa Luis Barragán and The Cosmic House.

Frieze Masters will also debut “Queering Modernism: Visual Languages of the 20th Century”, a fair-wide section conceived by curator Anke Kempkes. The section will highlight historical queer narratives, featuring presentations of artists Claude Cahun and Judy Chicago at Alberta Pane Gallery, and Lotte Laserstein and Glyn Philpot at Agnews.

Deutsche Bank will continue its long-term partnership as the global lead partner for the 23rd consecutive year, presenting an installation by Studio Lenca in its VIP lounge.
