Drake is on track to secure his seventh UK Number 1 album with his latest release, Iceman, leading the midweek Official Albums Chart ahead of Michael Jackson’s The Essential Michael Jackson, according to officialcharts.com.
The current chart positions could secure the Canadian rapper a rare Official Chart Double, as his track “Make Them Cry” also leads the singles chart. If sustained, this will be the first rap chart double since 2020, when Drake achieved the same feat with Dark Lane Demo Tapes and “Toosie Slide”.
The performer is also poised to dominate the highest tier of the chart, with two additional albums released last week, Maid of Honour and Habibti, currently tracking at Number 3 and Number 4, respectively.
Further down the rankings, Katy Perry’s compilation The Ones That Got The Plays is placed just outside the top tier at Number 11. Rock five-piece The Karma Effect are tracking for their highest-charting album to date, with Cruel Intentions sitting at Number 13.
Several legacy reissues and special editions are also set to re-enter the Top 40. German electronic group Kraftwerk are at Number 16 with a 50th-anniversary reissue of Radio-Activity, while Jethro Tull’s multi-disc edition of Under Wraps is at Number 19. The Style Council’s Café Bleu is targeting Number 33 following a special three-LP release.
Among new contemporary entries, former Junior Eurovision competitor Freya Skye is tracking at Number 22 with her debut EP Stardust.
Meanwhile, Britpop band Gene are positioned at Number 26 with their live reunion album Apollo (Live), aiming for their first main chart entry since 1999.
The midweek chart update reflects a dominant return for Drake, whose Iceman album artwork pays tribute to Michael Jackson. If current trends hold, Drake will match his previous multi-album chart successes and extend his record of consecutive UK chart-toppers.
