Tyler Perry buys $30m Puerto Rico mansion to scale back career

Tyler Perry has purchased a $30 million mansion in Puerto Rico, just weeks after announcing plans to scale back his professional commitments to spend more time with his family, per people.com.

The 57-year-old filmmaker recently closed on the 14,475-square-foot property, which sits on nearly 1.4 acres within a gated community. Built in 2021, the five-bedroom, 10-bathroom estate features a movie theatre, gym, swimming pool and open-concept kitchen.

Perry plans to relocate at the start of 2027 to spend more time with his 11-year-old son, Aman, whom he shares with former partner Gelila Bekele. Despite stepping back from his full-time schedule, Perry intends to maintain a business presence in the territory by opening a production office and filming projects on the island.

The acquisition coincides with a major restructuring of Perry’s real estate portfolio. In September, he listed his 24,592-square-foot Beverly Hills mansion for $57 million. The 22.5-acre property notably served as a temporary residence for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2020 during their transition from senior royal duties. Perry has also listed his property in Jackson, Wyoming, for $39.5 million.

Perry’s real estate moves reflect a deliberate lifestyle shift for the media mogul, whose extensive holdings include a private island in the Bahamas and his primary 330-acre Tyler Perry Studios complex in Atlanta, Georgia.

“It’s time to slow down a bit, enjoy more time with my son and just take it all in,” Perry said in a September interview explaining his decision to relocate.
