Oscar-winning actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto has denied sexual misconduct allegations made by 10 women in a BBC documentary, describing the claims as “categorically false, ” per film-news.co.uk.
The allegations, which include sexual assault, threatening sexual assault, having sex with a minor, and making sexually explicit phone calls, were detailed in Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, which aired in the UK on Wednesday.
The accusations relate to alleged incidents that occurred between 2002 and 2016.
Former crew members who worked with Leto’s band alleged in the documentary that staff members felt uncomfortable with the age gaps between the musician and teenage girls invited backstage. The BBC stated that it corroborated the women’s accounts prior to broadcast, noting that Leto did not respond to requests for comment before the programme went to air.
In a statement issued following the broadcast, Leto rejected the assertions in full. He insisted that he has never sexually assaulted anyone in his entire life and maintained that the claims are completely unfounded.
The accusations follow separate claims published last year by Air Mail, in which nine women accused the actor of misconduct, allegations his representatives denied at the time. Leto recently starred as Skeletor in Masters of the Universe, which was released on June 5.
