U2 has offered a first glimpse of their upcoming studio album by previewing the new single “Street of Dreams” during a music video shoot in Mexico City, per rockcellarmagazine.com.
The band confirmed the track is taken from their first collection of original material since 2017, which is scheduled for release later this year.

The Irish rock veterans, including drummer Larry Mullen Jr. following his recovery from surgery, were filmed performing the track atop a decorated school bus in the city’s historic centre. The vehicle featured artwork by Mexican graffiti artist Chavis Mármol and was inscribed with the song’s title in Spanish, “La Calle de los Sueños”.
Inclement weather briefly interrupted the production on Tuesday, May 12, when a thunderstorm disabled the film crew’s generator. The band took refuge in a local resident’s apartment, later appearing on a balcony to join fans in an impromptu rendition of their hits “Vertigo” and “Desire”.
This upcoming release marks a significant return for the quartet. While the band issued two surprise EPs earlier this year–”Days of Ash” and “Easter Lily”–this project will be their first full-length album of new songs since “Songs of Experience”.
In a statement, the band highlighted their support for the 2026 Street Child World Cup, which is currently taking place in Mexico City. Drummer Larry Mullen Jr. expressed his enthusiasm for returning to a “creative environment” following his absence from the band’s recent 40-date residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
The new album follows a prolific period for U2, including their record-breaking Las Vegas residency which generated an estimated $256 million. “Street of Dreams” appears to signal a return to the band’s rock roots after the acoustic reinterpretations found on 2023’s “Songs of Surrender”.
