Lagos Experiments With Drive-in Cinemas, as Abuja Takes it A Step Further
With cinemas closed across the world due to the covid-19 pandemic, drive-in cinemas are enjoying a resurgence in popularity, offering movie-goers who have been holed up in their homes a chance to have a cinema experience in the comfort of their cars.
A drive-in cinema is an outdoor movie theatre usually in a large parking area where audiences watch movies from the comfort of their cars with the sound coming from their car stereo.
While Nigerian film exhibitors have also started looking the way of the drive-in cinema, Lagosians will have the chance to experience this innovation as 7Eleven Entertainment is set to play host to film lovers today May 30 at The Lekki Coliseum.

The Renowned Freedom Park Film Club Goes Online.
Features the works of film maker, Nuhu Dalyop.
In response to the restriction on gathering amidst the Corona virus pandemic, you can now join the Freedom park film Club online from the 1st of June, with special screening of Nigerian Film makers.
The online sessions will kick off with the works of award winning Film Maker, Nuhu Dalyop screening on Monday June 1st and Monday June 8th on YouTube.
The Nuhu Dalyop movies to be showcased include ‘Samira’, ’99 In Jos’ and ‘Just a friend.’
BIOGRAPHY
Dalyop Nuhu Chuwang Filmmaker/Director & founder of ZD VISUALS, a full technical production company located in Lekki Lagos. Born in jos plateau state and a graduate of FILM&TV.
Nuhu has attended seminars, workshop, and film festivals, including LAFF, AFRIFF, AIFF, ASFF, INSHORT, EKOIFF AND BON. He made his first short professional film, a thriller titled “Hunting the Hunter” Which clinched an award at the National Innovative Awards (NIA), for Best Student Film. 2014 he was selected to attend the Haile Gerima film workshop in Luxor, were he made his second professional acclaimed short film, “Just A Friend” which screened at the closing ceremony of the 3rd Luxor African Film Festival, and clinched the award for Best Short Film Foreign, at the 11th Abuja International Film Festival 2014. And a nomination for Best Student Film at African International Film Festival 2014, Nuhu Dalyop was among the 30 young Africans by mofilm to be train professionally at the Academy for African Filmmakers 2014 Mofilm London. After the pitching session Nuhu Dalyop got the unilever grant to make Aisha’s Story. 2015 Aisha’s Story clinched the award for best short experimental film 2015 at AIFF, Nomination for best screen play, Best student short film, At AFRIFF, ASSF. Nuhu made a short film title Alias’s Story, which reflects on the molestation of boy child and Nominated at BON 2015, AFRIFF 2015, 2016 Nuhu was awarded for fast young rising Filmmaker/Director at INSHORT film festival. 99’ in jos, an indigenous short film that tells the story and creation of crisis that erupted in JOS, since the year 1999, with the severe and daily killings of innocent indigenes.
ISIDORE directed by Nuhu Dalyop won best short film at the SCRIPT TO SCREEN AFRICA REALITY TV SHOW 2018.
Benjamin Olaye Jnr Wins Lancelot Imasuen’s ‘Invasion 1897’ Online Monologue Challenge
Actor, dancer and model Olaye Benjamin Junior, has won the online monologue contest of Invasion 1897 in commemoration of 25th year behind the camera anniversary of popular movie producer, Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen.
The versatile entertainer whose father, Benjamin Olaye, popularly known as BENJOF (the magic feet sensation) was the producer and presenter of the then TV program ‘Beat Wave’ in old Bendel State (now Edo and Delta States), beat four others in a keenly contested online monologue show.
Organizers of Lancelot Imasuen 25 years behind the camera had organised the show to herald a almost six months packaged event for the leader and the pride of Nigeria motion picture, one of the six angry men that formed the Directors Guild of Nigeria, who will clock 49 in June this year, and 25 years in an industry, Nollywood, that is adjudged as the third largest in the world and Benjamin Olaye won it.
Olaye Jnr won the first position among the final contestants that also has, Promise Udeme and Patricia Innocent as first and second runner-up respectively. The contest was done mainly using the official instagram handles of Lancelot Imasuen, and these five contestants, @officialbenjaminolaye, @patriciainnocent1, @mhizpromiseudeme, @ebukaezekwueme and @amaka_hans, emerged the best out of about 700 entries, winning various amount of monetary rewards and certificates of participation.
