“They Cloned Tyrone” featuring John Boyega, Jamie Foxx gets positive reviews ahead of exclusive Netflix release

Reviewers are calling “They Cloned Tyrone” the upcoming sci-fi film on Netflix starring John Boyega and Jamie Foxx the best Netflix movie in ages.

Directed by Juel Taylor, who previously wrote the screenplay for Creed II, this film marks his directorial debut. The movie revolves around an unlikely trio who find themselves entangled in a government conspiracy. It combines elements of mystery, comedy and social commentary, making it a genre-smashing film.

Early reviews for the film have been overwhelmingly positive as critics praise the chemistry between the central trio of actors and the film’s ability to balance humour with poignant messages. 

Empire’s Amon Warmann describes it as a consistently hilarious ride with wild conspiracy elements. 

IGN calls it a comical yet thoughtful homage to Blaxploitation films and one of Netflix’s best films in recent memory. 

Looper’s Matthew Jackson highlights the film’s success in combining a hard-hitting message with an entertaining watch.

Currently sitting at an impressive 96% freshness over at Rotten Tomatoes, the film, which was initially scheduled for release in 2022 but was pushed back to July 2023, is produced by Macro, a production company known for representing people of colour in the film and TV industry. The company has received multiple Oscar nominations and one win for its productions. 

With its intriguing premise, positive reviews, and talented cast, “They Cloned Tyrone” is shaping up to be a must-watch film when it debuts on Netflix on July 21.
