Kenneth Gyang has helmed another film that is bound to shake things up in Nollywood if the trailer that has been making the rounds on social media is anything to go by. Titled Òlòturé, it is a Netflix Original and will be released on the streaming platform on October 2, 2020.
Òlòturé is from EbonyLife Films with a script by Yinka Ogun and Craig Freimond. Heidi Uys, Temidayo Makanjuola and James Amuta produced the film.
Òlòturé captures the harsh reality of human trafficking, a form of modern slavery, with an estimated 21 million people forced or coerced into it worldwide. The film offers an insight into how women are lured, under alluring and false pretenses, then drawn into a dark underworld from which, sadly, many never return.
The film parades a talented cast that includes: Lala Akindoju, Adah Ameh, Segun Arinze, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Omowunmi Dada, David Jones David, Patrick Doyle, Daniel Effiong, Wofai Fada, Emmanuel Ilemobayo, Sambasa Nzeribe, Omoni Oboli, Gregory Ojefua, Pearl Okorie, Bukola Oladipupo, Eunice Omoregie, Ikechukwu Onunaku, Sharon Ooja, Beverly Osu, Yemi Solade and Omawumi.
Kenneth Gyang, one of Nollywood’s most respected directors, has to his credit Confusion Na Wa, The Lost Cafe, and Blood and Henna. He has directed for tv too.
