Kenyan singer Ila Nia has released “Weche Hera,” a new single recorded with fellow artist Ywaya Tajiri.
The song, whose title translates as “matters of love,” opens with a direct statement in the language before tracing the emotional arc of a relationship marked by vulnerability and eventual disillusionment. Ila Nia charts the experience of having given fully, and being left, nonetheless, with regret.

The writing does not settle into clean resolution. There is tension in the narrative between the impulse to hold on and the necessity of letting go, a pull the production mirrors with a measured, emotionally grounded arrangement that gives both voices room to carry the weight of the story.
“Sometimes you give everything and it still doesn’t work,” Ila Nia said. “This song is about accepting that and finding your way forward.”
Working out of Nairobi, Ila Nia has developed a sound that draws on Afropop, R&B and broader African musical traditions.
Weche Hera” is now available across streaming platforms via ONErpm.
