Ed Sheeran’s ‘Overpass Graffiti’ leads race to UK No. 1

Ed Sheeran is set to make a big splash on the UK singles chart.

According to Billboard, following the release of his new album = (equals), Sheeran dominates the chart blast, with three of his songs on track to crack the Top 5, including the market’s best-seller.

Sheeran’s “Overpass Graffiti”, the outlet stated, leads the First Look chart, which ranks the UK’s most popular tracks based on sales and streams from the first 48 hours in the cycle.

If it keeps its momentum, “Overpass” will give Sheeran his 12th U.K. and third in 2021 alone, following “Bad Habits” (11 weeks at No. 1) and “Shivers” (four weeks at No. 1).

Based on weekend activity, “Shivers” is at No. 2 and “Bad Habits” is at No. 5.

Meanwhile, Adele’s “Easy On Me” dips 1-3 after two weeks at the top, and another former leader, Elton John’s “Cold Heart” (Pnau Remix) with Dua Lipa, improves 4-2.

It was a happy Halloween for Ray Parker Jr. whose 1984 hit “Ghostbusters” surges to No. 17 on the chart blast, and Boris Pickett’s “Monster Mash” from 1962 is one place behind, at No. 18.
