The soundtrack for the live-action Barbie movie has broken previous records on the UK singles charts, becoming the first film soundtrack to land three top five songs at the same time.
The songs that made it to the top five are: Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” (No. 3), Dua Lipa’s “Dance The Night” (No. 4), Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World” (No. 5).
The soundtrack also features songs by Charli XCX, Ryan Gosling, Lizzo and many others.
The Barbie movie soundtrack’s success is a testament to the popularity of the Barbie brand and the star power of the cast. It is also a sign of the growing trend of soundtracks becoming successful in their own right, independent of the films they are attached to.
In addition to breaking records on the UK singles charts, the Barbie soundtrack is also doing well on streaming services. It has already surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify, for instance.
