Nigerian singer and global music icon Yemi Alade has released her seventh studio album, It’s Yemi Alade, via Effyzzie Music, marking a return to her highlife foundations.
The 15-track record is the result of two years of creative development, blending genres such as highlife, Afrobeat, disco, house and Afropop.
The album title was chosen by fans.
The project features cross-continental collaborations with artists including Bien, Njerae and Sofiya Nzau from Kenya, Nigerian musicians Don Jazzy, Teni, Fave, Spyro and Jeriq, alongside Congolese performers Ferre Gola and Singuila. Preceded by tracks such as “Don’t Be Shy” and “Ala Bekee,” the album focuses on themes of identity, resilience, and personal reflection.
Yemi Alade is a Grammy Award winner with over a billion global streams, known for hit singles including “Johnny”. She has previously collaborated with international artists such as Beyoncé and Angélique Kidjo, and serves as an ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme.
