Peruzzi has returned with his fourth studio album, Sabali, after a period of quiet reflection. The title is drawn from the Bambara word for “calm endurance,” a concept long used as a mantra of quiet strength across West Africa.
Known as the “songwriter’s songwriter” for his decade of acclaimed hits and credits for artistes like Davido and Burna Boy, Peruzzi channels the power of introspection into Sabali. This album is a self-assured statement from an artiste who navigated doubt, silence and industry turbulence to re-emerge with clarity and grace.
Sabali follows the successful releases “Rum & Boogie” and “Heartwork”. It fuses soulful R&B, Afrobeats and Afro-fusion with a new composure.
Peruzzi states, “Sabali is the sound of holding steady when the world won’t stop shaking. It’s my peace. My patience. My power.”. The artiste believes that some things are worth the silence, proving the adage that all good things come to those who wait.
The journey begins with the lead single, “Die It,” a reflective yet confident opener that feels like a victory lap. The album flows through themes of love with tracks like “You” featuring Kemuel and “Legalise”, to swagger on “Nuff Respect” featuring Jesse Jagz, and pure joy with “Time of My Life” featuring Esoterica.
Standout moments on the 17-track album include: “Mad Oh,” which features The Cavemen adding highlife warmth.
“Apala Drill”: An uptempo spark featuring Davido.
“ANTR (A Night to Remember)”: Veteran Timaya adds flavor to this track.
“Perfect Situation”: Reunites the original DMW crew alongside Mayorkun and Dremo.
The album expands its sound with first-time collaborations from artistes such as Jeriq, Terri, Bella Shmurda, Zlatan, and Esoterica, all while maintaining Peruzzi’s core style.
