O.J. Simpson, former football star and actor, has passed away at the age of 76 after battling cancer, his family confirmed.
According to variety.com, the news was shared on his official X account, with his family requesting privacy during this time.
Simpson rose to fame as a football sensation, winning the Heisman Trophy while at USC and setting records with the San Francisco 49ers and the Buffalo Bills. Transitioning to acting, he appeared in various films and TV shows, including the iconic Naked Gun series and the miniseries Roots.
However, Simpson’s life was marred by controversy, particularly surrounding the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her boyfriend, Ronald Goldman. Despite being acquitted in a highly publicised criminal trial, he was later found liable in a civil suit brought by the victims’ families, ordered to pay millions in damages.
His tumultuous life continued with a stint in prison for robbery, kidnapping and other charges related to a Las Vegas sports memorabilia incident.
