O.J. Simpson, former football star and actor, has passed away at the age of 76 after battling cancer, his family confirmed.

However, Simpson’s life was marred by controversy, particularly surrounding the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her boyfriend, Ronald Goldman. Despite being acquitted in a highly publicised criminal trial, he was later found liable in a civil suit brought by the victims’ families, ordered to pay millions in damages.

His tumultuous life continued with a stint in prison for robbery, kidnapping and other charges related to a Las Vegas sports memorabilia incident.
