The Lagos Biennial has partnered with the renowned Sotheby’s Modern and Contemporary African Art Auction in a remarkable move towards securing funding for its 2024 edition. The collaboration, set to take place from October 13th to 19th, aims to support and celebrate the rich tapestry of African contemporary art.
The highlight of this partnership is the inclusion of three exceptional works by prominent African artists in the Sotheby’s auction catalogue. These works have been generously contributed to help ensure the success of the Lagos Biennial’s upcoming edition.
Oluwole Omofemi’s “The Visioneer (2020)”, a captivating piece, is estimated to fetch between 12,000 to 18,000 GBP as **Lot 24** in the auction.
Victor Ehikhamenor’s “Afro Shenanigans Series 1 (2020)” is another captivating addition. As **Lot 23**, it is expected to garner interest within the range of 7,000 to 9,000 GBP.
Lastly, Usman Wahab’s “Languishing (Phenomenal Women) (2018)” is also making its appearance in the auction as Lot 25, with an estimated value ranging from 4,000 to 6,000 GBP.
