The new Netflix short film “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch, has debuted with a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The 39-minute film, directed by Wes Anderson, follows a rich man who learns about a guru who can see without using his eyes. The man then sets out to master the skill in order to cheat at gambling.
The film also stars Ralph Fiennes, Dev Patel, Ben Kingsley, Rupert Friend and Richard Ayoade. It is the proposed first instalment in a four-part anthology based on the works of Roald Dahl.
The film has received rave reviews from critics, with many praising Anderson’s unique visual style and the performances of the cast. The Times called it “a perfectly precise blast of finest Anderson,” while The Daily Telegraph said that Anderson “has turned out to be perhaps the greatest interpreter of Dahl we have.”
“The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar” will be released on Netflix on September 27.
