Bolu Babalola has received a double nomination for the inaugural TikTok Book Awards, according to The Bookseller.
The TikTok Book Awards UK and Ireland 2023, which aim to recognise the community’s favourite authors, books, and creators through categories inspired by the BookTok ecosystem, unveiled shortlists and Babalola’s book Honey & Spice has been nominated for BookTok Book of The Year.
The list was curated based on BookTok data and publisher contributions, and then reviewed by a judging panel of experts and TikTok creators.
The winners of the TikTok Book Awards will be decided by the TikTok community through an in-app vote that will go live this month with the winners being crowned in August. Honey & Spice has been well-received and has been featured as a Reese’s Book Club Pick and a TikTok Book Club Pick.
Babalola is a British-Nigerian author whose book has been described as a fresh take on the traditional rom-com, and it has been well-received by readers and critics alike.
