Skepta announces “Knife and Fork” album after hiatus

Skepta, the Tottenham grime legend, has delighted fans with the announcement of his upcoming album, “Knife and Fork,” marking his return to the studio after a hiatus since 2019. Expressing gratitude for the continuous support during his absence, Skepta revealed the album’s first single, “#GasMeUp (Diligent),” scheduled for release on January 26th.

Having released five studio albums, including 2019’s “Ignorance is Bliss,” which received praise for its creative vitality, Skepta remains a prominent figure in the grime scene. NME’s four-star review acknowledged the rapper’s ongoing impact, emphasising his enduring creative prowess.

In addition to the album news, Skepta unveiled the inaugural edition of Big Smoke, a one-day festival set to take place in Crystal Palace Park on July 6. The festival promises a dynamic lineup, with Skepta’s exclusive 2024 performance being a highlight.

Fans have witnessed Skepta’s continued musical exploration, with collaborations like the EP 48 Hours alongside Ryder and the 2020 album Insomnia featuring Chip and Young Adz. The artiste’s influence extends beyond his music, as seen in the viral success of “Text Me Back” on TikTok, leading to the collaborative EP with Ryder.
