Dua Lipa cancels music video amid Israel-Palestine crisis

Pop star Dua Lipa has announced that she will not release a music video that she filmed last year, due to its resemblance to the current situation in the Middle East.

The singer, who is preparing to launch her third album in 2024, said that she felt it was “insensitive and inappropriate” to release the video, which featured scenes of violence, explosions, and riots.

The video, which cost hundreds of thousands of pounds to produce, was shot in September 2023, before the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, which has claimed more than 200 lives and injured thousands more.

Dua Lipa said that she made the decision to scrap the video after seeing the “horrific images” of the conflict on the news, and that she wanted to show her support and solidarity for the people of Israel and Palestine.

She also took to social media to express her grief and empathy for the victims of the war, and to call for a ceasefire and a humanitarian solution.

“I am heartbroken by the suffering and loss of life that is happening in Gaza and Israel right now,” she wrote on X. “I pray for peace and justice for all the innocent civilians who are caught in the crossfire. I urge the leaders of both sides to end the violence and find a peaceful and lasting solution.”

Dua Lipa is not the only celebrity who has spoken out about the Israel-Palestine crisis. Other stars, such as Rihanna, Zayn Malik, Gal Gadot and Bella Hadid, have also shared their views and appeals on social media, sparking both praise and criticism from their fans and followers.
