Sara Bareilles will release her first studio album in seven years, titled *Good Grief*, on August 28 through Epic Records, per spinmagazine.com.
The 14-track project, co-produced by Aaron Dessner of The National, was launched on June 3 with the lead single “Home.”

The album is the American singer-songwriter’s first full-length release since her 2019 Grammy-winning record, Amidst the Chaos. The musician stated that the new material addresses themes of loss, women’s rights, and resilience, describing the collection as her most personal work to date.
The primary tracking for the album took place over six days at Dreamland Recording Studios in Woodstock, New York. Bareilles produced the majority of the record alongside engineer Jonathan Low and a core group of regular session musicians. Additional recording was completed with Dessner at his Long Pond Studio in the Hudson Valley, whilst the album also features guest appearances from Brandi Carlile and Ingrid Michaelson.
The release will be supported by a documentary film, “Sara Bareilles: Good Grief,” directed by Josh Alexander. Chronicling the making of the album, the film is scheduled to premiere this week at the Tribeca Festival.
Bareilles will also embark on her first major concert tour in several years to promote the record. Produced by Live Nation, the North American theatre tour is scheduled to begin on September 9 in Boston, with dates confirmed for New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
