MultiChoice Talent Factory 2025 opens for applications across Africa

MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) has announced the opening of applications for its 2025 academic year, inviting aspiring filmmakers, scriptwriters, producers and storytellers from 13 African countries to apply.

The initiative, which is fully funded, according to a statement released by APO Group, aims to nurture and develop talent across the continent, offering participants invaluable industry experience and training.

MTF is open to individuals from Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, Angola, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi. Since its launch in 2018, the programme has welcomed 60 students annually, providing them with hands-on training, mentorship from industry experts and opportunities for growth in the entertainment sector.

Participants in the programme will receive rigorous training in various aspects of filmmaking, including cinematography, sound design and editing. In addition to practical skills, students will gain insights into the business side of the industry. The programme also offers top-performing students further training and internship opportunities with global partners like the New York Film Academy and Zee World.

MTF’s impact is evident, with alumni achieving success in major African productions and winning prestigious awards, including an International Emmy. The initiative also fosters entrepreneurship, with 30 alumni having established their own production companies, contributing to economic growth and job creation.

Applications for the 2025 academic year are open until September 15, 2024. Interested candidates can apply online at the MultiChoice Talent Factory website.

This opportunity provides a platform for the next generation of African filmmakers to showcase their talent and contribute to the continent’s rich storytelling tradition.
