Lana Del Rey to perform theme for new James Bond game ‘007 First Light’

Lana Del Rey has recorded the official theme song for the upcoming James Bond video game, “007 First Light,” per music-news.com.

Announced on Thursday by Io Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios, the track was co-written by the singer and veteran Bond composer David Arnold. The game, which explores the origin story of the British spy, is scheduled for release on May 27.

The collaboration marks a significant expansion of the Bond musical lineage. David Arnold, who previously scored five films in the franchise including Die Another Day and Quantum of Solace, returned to the project to ensure the music honoured the series’ heritage. Arnold stated that Del Rey brought an “elegance and atmosphere” to the song that suited the game’s reimagined era.

The title sequence featuring the new track is set to debut across social media platforms on Friday. Producers described the composition as a unique interpretation that integrates Del Rey’s established aesthetic into the Bond universe. The announcement follows a broader shift in the franchise’s leadership, with Amazon MGM assuming creative control last year.

“007 First Light” is currently available for pre-order ahead of its spring launch. While the gaming sector focuses on this origin story, the film franchise is also entering a new phase. Director Denis Villeneuve is attached to helm the next cinematic instalment, following Daniel Craig’s final appearance as Bond in the 2021 film No Time to Die.

The move to cast a high-profile artist for a video game theme underscores the growing convergence between the gaming and film industries. By pairing a modern pop icon with a legacy composer like Arnold, Amazon MGM appears to be bridging the gap between traditional Bond fans and a younger digital audience.
