Jack Black is joining the pixelated party in the upcoming live-action “Minecraft” movie. He’ll be teaming up with Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Emma Myers (Wednesday), and Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple) in a film directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite).
While the plot and script remain shrouded in mystery, production is set to begin soon in New Zealand, aiming for a theatrical release on April 4, 2025.
This isn’t Black’s first time bringing game worlds to life – he’s starred in adaptations of Super Mario Bros., Jumanji, and the upcoming Borderlands.
Minecraft, with its over 140 million monthly players, has become a cultural phenomenon, blurring the lines between game and entertainment. Mojang Studios, the game’s creators, are joining forces with Warner Bros. and Legendary to bring the blocky world to the big screen.
