Fans react as Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce marry in New York

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce married on Friday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City, prompting an outpouring of emotional reaction from fans online and outside the venue.

The ceremony, reported by rollingstone.com, follows Kelce’s proposal last August. Hundreds of guests attended the New York wedding, with a crowd of fans gathering outside MSG to mark the occasion.

Reaction on social media was immediate, with many longtime followers describing the event as a fairytale conclusion to Swift’s high-profile dating history. Fans posted messages calling the wedding “THE royal wedding” and saying they were moved to tears by images of Swift in a wedding dress.

Several posts framed the marriage as a vindication for Swift after years of public scrutiny of her relationships. One widely shared post said everyone’s journey to finding “the one” is different, adding: “Love really works in mysterious ways, and today’s happy ending genuinely moves me.”

Others described a personal, parasocial connection to the singer. “I’ve been a huge swiftie since I was a kid,” one fan wrote, adding they were happy Swift had “a man who truly understands her and celebrates her.”

The guest list also drew comment. Attendees included Lena Dunham, the Haim sisters,l and Gigi Hadid, who attended with Bradley Cooper, according to fan posts. The scale of the invitation list prompted amusement online, with one user joking Swift had invited “absolutely everyone she’s ever spoken to”.

The choice of Madison Square Garden as a venue, which had initially been met with scepticism, was praised by some fans as a deliberate move. One post described Swift as “a smart cookie” for booking MSG in July.

Swift, 36, and Kelce, 36, began dating in 2023. The American football player plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.
