Fameye confronts the pressures facing young people on ‘Gen Z’

Fameye has released a new single, “Gen Z,” a reflective track that delves into doubt, faith, temptation, and the weight of expectations shaping the lives of many young Africans.

Born Peter Famiyeh Bozah and raised in Bogoso, the Ghanaian musician has built a reputation on introspective songwriting rooted in themes of hustle and survival.

“Gen Z” continues in that vein, opening with an image of the artist in quiet prayer, wrestling with unanswered calls to God and the pull of old habits.

The song’s central refrain, “I’m a Gen Z, pressure keseɛ aa me wom,” anchors its emotional argument: that the stress, social expectations, and uncertainty confronting today’s youth are real and relentless.

Fameye moves through questions of desire, distraction, relationships and the need to belong, framing them as a direct conversation between himself and a higher power.

“Sometimes God answers yes when I pray, sometimes He says no,” he sings, a line that captures the song’s core tension between devotion and doubt.

“This song came from a real place,” Fameye said. “It is about those nights when you feel alone, when everything is pulling at you, and you still choose to pray.”

“Gen Z” is available now on all major streaming platforms via ONErpm.
