Eve has described Central Cee’s decision to sample her 2001 hit “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” as a “no-brainer” despite initial legal reservations regarding the track’s lyrics, per music-news.com.
Speaking on Capital XTRA Breakfast on May 2, the Grammy-winning rapper revealed that the deal for the viral hit “Doja” was only finalised the night before its scheduled release.

Eve told presenters Robert Bruce and Shayna Marie that while her management and legal teams initially scrutinised the provocative nature of Central Cee’s lyrics, she remained confident in the song’s potential. She noted that as soon as she heard the production, she recognised it as a certain success.
The track’s subsequent global popularity has introduced Eve’s music to a new demographic of listeners. The artist expressed gratitude for the resurgence, noting that the crossover into the UK drill scene has revitalised her live performances. She added that she does not take the renewed interest in her catalogue for granted.
The interview preceded the announcement of Eve’s return to British radio. She is scheduled to guest present Capital XTRA’s Fully Reloaded takeover this bank holiday Monday, May 4. The curated broadcast will focus on classic R&B and hip-hop.
The special programme will air from 11am to 1pm and will be available via the Global Player app.
Released in 2022, “Doja” became a defining moment for British rap, peaking at number two on the UK Singles Chart and achieving significant viral success on TikTok. The track’s reliance on Eve’s Grammy-winning collaboration with Gwen Stefani bridged a twenty-year gap between early 2000s R&B and contemporary UK drill.
