Zayn Malik cancels US tour dates following hospitalisation

British singer Zayn Malik has cancelled the US leg of his upcoming global tour and several European dates following a recent hospitalisation, per faroutmagazine.co.uk.

The former One Direction star informed fans on May 1 that he must reduce his schedule to focus on his recovery, though he confirmed that his revised tour will now commence at London’s O2 Arena on May 14.

The cancellations affect all scheduled US performances, which were due to begin this July at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. In addition to the American leg, Malik has withdrawn from planned shows in Dublin and Birmingham. The singer stated that the decision followed a review of his upcoming schedule to ensure he remains healthy enough to perform the remaining dates.

In a statement shared via social media, Malik expressed gratitude for the support received during his recovery, noting that he is currently at home and feeling “stronger than before.” He explained that while he had to reduce the number of shows on the “Konnakol Tour,” he remains committed to seeing as many fans as possible across the remaining international locations.

The tour is now set to proceed through Manchester and several major cities in Latin America, including Mexico City, São Paulo, and Buenos Aires. This scale-back follows the previous cancellation of album launch events in London and New York last month, which were also attributed to his undisclosed medical treatment.

Malik’s latest album, Konnakol, was released on April 17. While the singer has not disclosed the specific nature of his illness, he told followers he was “heartbroken” to miss the initial promotional appearances and thanked his fanbase for their prayers and well-wishes during his convalescence.

This tour marks Malik’s most ambitious live undertaking as a solo artist. Historically, the singer has been open about his struggles with performance anxiety and health challenges, which have occasionally impacted his touring commitments since departing One Direction in 2015.
