DJ Neptune turns Crown Ape’s ‘Who Dat Girl?’ into a summer Amapiano anthem with BOJ

Nigerian DJ and producer DJ Neptune has released an amapiano and afrohouse remix of Crown Ape’s single “Who Dat Girl?”, recruiting alté pioneer BOJ for the reworked version titled “Who Dat Girl? II”.

The four-and-a-half-minute track strips back the original’s rap elements in favour of a warmer, dancefloor-oriented sound built on percussion, bass guitar, synths and African rhythmic textures.

Where the original brought together Lagos, London and Frankfurt through a blend of Afrofusion and European street rap, the remix narrows its focus around BOJ’s laid-back melodic delivery and the track’s after-hours atmosphere. The result is a more hypnotic, fluid and club-ready record designed to translate across lounges, beach clubs and late-night sets.

DJ Neptune, an Edo State native born and raised in Lagos, has built a career moving across hip-hop, R&B, house, dancehall and afrobeats. His catalogue includes collaborations with Rema, Joeboy, Omah Lay and Davido. He made history as the first Nigerian DJ to perform at SXSW and served as A&R on Naeto C’s award-winning “Super C Season” album, earning two Headies Awards in the process.

Crown Ape, conceptualised by British Nigerian culturepreneur Ikenna Donald, is an emerging act positioned at the intersection of afrobeats and European sonic textures. The collective draws from the foundations laid by artists such as Davido, Wizkid and Tiwa Savage while pushing the sound into new intercontinental territory.

“Who Dat Girl? II” arrives as the northern hemisphere summer begins, with the remix intended for global dance spaces and diaspora audiences.
