Chike and Syemca have released a new collaborative single, “Pity My Soul”, marking their return as a duo following their viral 2023 track “Love Egbugomo”.
The two share a bond that predates their public careers. Syemca, the elder of the pair, was instrumental in encouraging Chike to pursue music professionally, and that history shapes the dynamic of their collaborations.

“Pity My Soul” opens with soft percussion and understated melodies. Chike takes the lead vocal with a reflective performance that centres on the emotional cost of distance in a relationship. The central hook; “Whenever you are not in my corner, I pity my soul,” anchors the track’s theme. Syemca joins with a conversational delivery that gives the song an intimacy suggestive of an honest exchange between two people trying to hold a connection.

The track moves between English, Pidgin and Igbo, rooting its emotion in everyday speech. A standout line, “I go trek from here to Okokomaiko,” uses a familiar Lagos geography to convey devotion. The production, handled by Deeyasso, blends Afropop, R&B and highlife, keeping the arrangement spare enough to let the vocals carry the weight.
The song is now available across streaming platforms via ONErpm.
