Ariana Grande’s album Petal debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 dated August 15, earning 295,000 equivalent album units in the US in the week ending August 6, billboard.com reports.
Of Petal’s 295,000 units, 168,000 were album sales, 126,000 were streaming-equivalent album (SEA) units–driven by 128.83 million on-demand official streams–and 1,000 were track-equivalent album (TEA) units. The album also topped Billboard’s Top Album Sales and Top Streaming Albums charts for the week.
The 168,000 sales is Grande’s second-largest sales week; only My Everything’s 169,000 debut in 2014 was larger. Vinyl accounted for 96,000 of Petal’s sales, Grande’s best week on vinyl and the fifth-largest vinyl week of 2026.
Petal is Grande’s seventh No. 1 on the Billboard 200, tying her with Janet Jackson and Lady Gaga for seventh-most No. 1 albums among solo women since the chart became regularly published in 1956. Her previous No. 1s include Eternal Sunshine (three weeks, 2024), Positions (two, 2020), Thank U, Next (two, 2019), Sweetener (one, 2018), My Everything (one, 2014) and Yours Truly (2013). The new album is also her tenth top-10 entry.
The release was issued across multiple formats and variants in its first week: more than 10 digital download and streaming variants (including six with bonus tracks), 10 vinyl variants (including a signed edition), five CD variants (including a signed edition) and two cassettes.
Grande announced petal on Apr. 28. The album was preceded by the single “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated June 13. Grande is currently touring on The Eternal Sunshine Tour, which began on June 6 and runs through September 1.
On the August 15 chart, previous No. 1s occupy the next six slots: Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem falls to No. 2 with 75,000 units (down 6%), Olivia Rodrigo’s you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love is No. 3 with 74,000 (down 7%), Ella Langley’s Dandelion is No. 4 with 72,000 (down 3%), Noah Kahan’s The Great Divide is No. 5 with 59,000 (down 5%), Drake’s ICEMAN is No. 6 with 48,000 (down 10%) and Wallen’s One Thing at a Time is No. 7 with 38,000 (down 4%). Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving rises to No. 8 with 37,000 units; Michael Jackson’s Thriller is No. 9 with 36,000; and Kahan’s Stick Season is No. 10 with 35,000.
