Britney Spears’ family “terrified” after erratic driving video, fear she’s “losing control”

Britney Spears’ family is reportedly in crisis talks after shocking video footage showed the pop star driving dangerously following a night out, sparking fears she is “losing control,” per pagesix.com.

The singer’s family is “terrified” that her recent erratic behaviour mirrors the turmoil before her 2007 public breakdown. At that time, the singer famously shaved her head and ultimately lost custody of her two sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Insiders reportedly said that the family is now discussing how to help the 43-year-old pop icon.

“There’s a lot of concern. Everyone has always wanted the best for her, and she’s showing right now that she’s making bad choices,” a source said. “It’s terrifying. So there’s a lot of talk about what to do, if anything. How can we protect her from herself.”

The alarming now viral video shows the “Toxic” singer leaving the Red-O restaurant in Thousand Oaks, California, last Wednesday. Witnesses suggested others appeared to urge her not to get behind the wheel of her black BMW convertible.

Once driving, Spears made an erratic U-turn with screeching tires, swerved dangerously and meandered into other car lanes, including the bike lane, and crossed the road’s centre divider.

The renewed concern has led some insiders to suggest she should be placed back in a conservatorship, even though the controversial 13-year arrangement, which was partially overseen by her father, Jamie Spears, ended in 2021 after the fan-driven #FreeBritney movement.

“The last time that Jamie stepped in to protect his daughter, he became public enemy number one,” the source added, referencing the backlash. “So the question is whether anyone should step in to help her, and deal with the backlash.”

The driving incident comes as Spears deals with the fallout from her ex-husband Kevin Federline’s new tell-all memoir, You Thought You Knew, which was released earlier this month. The book reportedly contains serious accusations against the pop star, including claims that she used cocaine while breastfeeding their sons, Sean Preston, now 20, and Jayden James, now 19.

Spears has pushed back against the claims, accusing Federline of “gaslighting” and “profiting off her” now that her child support payments to him have ended. She also recently claimed on Instagram that she felt “brain damage happened to me a long time ago” due to how she was allegedly controlled.
