Lionel Richie has been admitted to the intensive care unit at a hospital following his August 29 concert in St. Louis, Missouri, per americansongwriter.com.
Richie checked himself into the hospital for medical tests after appearing to struggle significantly toward the end of his performance, even requesting a chair for his final song.
Medical staff are reportedly monitoring him for possible dehydration, with expectations that he may be discharged on September 1.
This medical emergency follows a similar health scare in June, when Richie felt dizzy on stage and was forced to cut a concert short before being transported to the hospital by ambulance. That incident resulted in the cancellation of two subsequent shows under doctors’ orders to rest and recover. Following his recovery, he resumed his touring schedule without further incident, leading up to his current hospitalisation.
