Mariam Pedro-Tijani brings motherhood conversations to the fore with “Soft Mum Era”

Lagos came together for something truly special on Saturday, September 20 for the launch of Soft Mum Era by Mariam Pedro-Tijani. Held in Lekki, the book launch was not just a moment in time, but also a space where stories about motherhood, identity and softness came to life. Guests enjoyed an affirmation wall, a merch stand, a massage station by ORIKI, and carefully curated goodie bags featuring products from Organii Skincare, Greenly’s and Denlaa Signature.

The afternoon was hosted by Ibidunni Osho who welcomed guests and guided the program, setting a warm and engaging tone for the event. The room felt warm and full of energy, with dignitaries, tastemakers, and supporters all ready to connect. In attendance – The First Lady of Lagos State Her Excellency – Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, Former First Lady of Lagos State – Dame Abimbola Fashola, The Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice – Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, Honorable Justice Odusanya of the Lagos State High Court, The Ministry of Health Special Adviser – Mrs. Olukemi Ogunyemi and other members of the Lagos State Civil Service.

Mariam read from the Soft Mum Era, and you could feel the room responding, nodding heads, quiet reflection, bursts of applause. This wasn’t just a book; it was holding up a mirror to the everyday strength, vulnerability, and truth of motherhood.

The conversation didn’t stop there. Guests leaned in, shared their own experiences, laughed together, and left feeling like something meaningful had begun.

Mariam Pedro-Tijani said: “I am so grateful Soft Mum Era is out in the world and that you all took out time to celebrate this launch with me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.’’

By the time the programme wrapped up, no one was rushing out. People lingered, exchanged contacts, took photos, and carried the conversation with them. That’s the magic of the Soft Mum Era; it doesn’t end on the page; it lives in the room, in our lives, and in the way we choose to honour mothers today.
